Fresh Clean Tees for Fresh Clean Seas

BACK TO BLOG

As huge fans of living on this planet, we’re excited to announce Fresh Clean Tees for Fresh Clean Seas! This partnered program means that a percentage of each Fresh Clean Tees sale is donated to the Surfrider Foundation to help achieve their goal of protecting all 12,000 miles of the U.S. coastline.

This is just a small part of how sustainability is being further integrated into our standard business practices. Fresh Clean Tees is in this journey for the long haul.

Founded years ago in a San Diego garage, Fresh Clean Tees continues to call this beautiful beach city home. With our team spread out across Southern California, we’re all longtime fans of living near the ocean. From spending sunny weekends at the beach to cruising along a picturesque coastline, we’re regularly reminded of how lucky we are to live, work, and play where we do. The ocean’s bounty and beauty provides our team with a lot, and we want to give back.

In the early days of Fresh Clean Tees, we were so focused on getting our company off the ground that we didn’t consider our role in the larger scheme of things. Sustainability has always been something we’re interested in, but it wasn’t factored into our original business plan. Over time, we’ve learned just how big of a problem the fashion industry can be. In fact, it’s one of the world’s worst polluters, given that 10% of global carbon emissions stem from fashion production.

But there are ways to operate a clothing company that’s both ethical and eco-friendly. It just takes research, strategy, and accountability. For instance, Fresh Clean Tees has transitioned to 100% recyclable packaging and eliminated all single-use plastic elements. We're also working to establish sustainability benchmarks and report to an impartial third party to hold ourselves accountable.

This will prove crucial as we:

- Make supply chain decisions with the environment as a focal point instead of the lowest cost solution.

- Collaborate with nonprofit partners to ensure we're sending a minimum of $250k to ocean protection efforts each year.

- Replace our clothing's synthetics with organic and sustainable fabrics by 2025.

Together, we’ll keep this world fresh and clean.
