While we've had a tough time finding the words over the last several weeks, it's even harder staying silent. The murders of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, and Breanna Taylor over the last few weeks added to the countless number of others in the Black community who have had their lives senselessly taken is heartbreaking and unacceptable. This violence and injustice need to end, and we as a community need to step up and do our part to stop racial injustice.
As a brand, we are in no way the focal point of the story, but standing by and maintaining the status quo is simply not an option. While our actions alone won't dictate change, we believe every action big or small has an impact.
We will support the Black community and as we grow as a company and we pledge to create a diverse workforce, speak up against injustice and hate in our community and will spread love, kindness, and advocate for equal rights for all, no matter their color, gender, or sexual orientation. To amplify our efforts we also have committed to giving back a percentage of our sales to charities that embrace these same values. We implore our #FreshFam to stand by us and do the same.
Two weeks ago we donated $5,000 to the Know Your Rights Camp whose mission is to advance the liberation and well-being of Black and Brown communities. We also began donating a percentage of all sales to a number of non-profits supporting the Black Lives Matter movement.
The cause portfolio powered by Shopping Gives is splitting our donation between the following non-profits, all of which are committed to fighting for the political, educational, social, and economic rights of all people and dismantle structures that uphold systemic racism.
