We caught up with David Suhadolnik, a Del Mar surfer and shaper whose story feels unmistakably rooted in Southern California. Growing up in San Diego, long days at the beach with his family sparked a lifelong connection to the ocean—and eventually, to the craft that would define him.
In 2014, while working at a horse ranch in Del Mar, David and a friend transformed a simple shipping container into a shaping and glassing room. That small, sun-bleached workspace became the starting point of his journey as a surfboard shaper. Like many craftsmen who appreciate a time when things were built to last, David set out to make boards with intentions classic in spirit, modern in performance. His shapes draw from old-school flat decks and fuller rails while incorporating contemporary outlines—bridging past and present in every board he builds.
